So, this guy I sort of used to go out with (and who I may still be just a little bit hung up on) and I are Facebook friends. I also never took him off my AIM buddy list after we stopped sort of going out. Anyway, I thought he'd get a kick out of the new Jonothan Coulton song. I'm trying to figure out why exactly I felt comfortable messaging him on Facebook with the link, but not IM'ing it to him.
So, at Escapade [livejournal.com profile] minotaurs managed to pimp me into Merlin (with an assist from [livejournal.com profile] treewishes. I've fallen hard, man. All the cute boys and the metaphoric gayness, and Merlin helping Arthur get dressed, and the life-saving. Oh. My. God. This is just the gayest thing I've seen in ages.

I need fic recs, people. Especially from you, [livejournal.com profile] minotaurs. You got me into this mess that I had been studiously avoiding until now. You owe me. Though I have to admit, some of the fic I've found on my own has been pretty good.

For whatever reason, the end of Escapade always makes me particularly sad in the way that the end of other cons doesn't. Maybe because there are so many people I only see once a year. Anyway, it was a great time, as usual. I've got to work on getting some more of my friends to come out with me next year.
Escapade, yay!

Except the clock is telling me it's five minutes to 6, but my head is telling me it's five minutes to 9. I want to go to breakfast, but I'm sure no one I would like to go with is awake.

Also, the flight from Detroit to Los Angeles seems interminable. Especially when you have a cold and are stuck in the middle seat.

But I'm here now and I've already seen [livejournal.com profile] smallbeer and [livejournal.com profile] arallara, and talked about porn with [livejournal.com profile] barbana. Can't wait for the con to start!

So I get into to work today to find that all of the Oxygen had been used up on one person. Almost hard to believe, but true. So I had to go to another facility to get more. Except while I was out getting the O2 a doctor I'd put a call out to called back. Now before I left I mentioned to another nurse where I was going and told her that I'd put the call out. And I know she knew what I wanted from him because we'd spent half the morning report talking about how one of our residents was in desperate need of a DNR order. I found out when I got back that the doctor had called back and asked for me and that the nurse I talked to had said that she didn't know where I was or what I wanted from him. What the hell? And I spent the entire rest of the day trying to get him to call me back.

Then we got an admission. Then someone fell. So yeah. Pretty crappy day. I so can't wait for Escapade.

I spent the day helping Doug move. You know, for one guy in a tiny one-bedroom apartment, he sure has a lot of fucking furniture. Also, a big fat Boo! to his new place being down a steep stairway. I'm gonna need a lot of Advil tomorrow.

Also, my worst fear has come to pass. My mother got a Facebook. I'm not sure I want her to have access to even that watered down version of my online life. But there's no way I can NOT friend her. God, why did I even get one of these in the first place? Oh yeah, I remember ) I guess this is some sort of karmic payback.

Apropos of nothing, I think Martha's Theme is some of the best work Murray Gold has done for the new series of Doctor Who.

[livejournal.com profile] anothersuperboy tagged me a while back.

I went back into work today for 7p-11p. Not only did I get a speeding ticket on way in for driving the same speed as everyone else on the god damned bridge, but when I finally got to work ten minutes late I walked into a mad house. And I have to work tomorrow. I don't have to be in until 9, but still. I'm actually thinking of calling in sick. I probably won't, but I'm thinking about it.

So Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann did an interview with afterelton.com in which they played Rock Band and just generally acted like the adorable dorks that they are. I'm actually not one to slash them in real life, but for those of you that are, have at it. It's all there.

I'm tired of Heath Ledger winning awards for being dead.

I'm tired of hearing about Jennifer Hudson's dead family.

I don't think it's any of my business how Jennifer Aniston is handling the fact that her husband cheated on her. That's between her and her therapist and I'm actually beginning to resent having to hear about it just in the normal course of living in the USA.

I don't know who this Rihanna person is or why I should care that her boyfriend hit her anymore than the general level of sympathy I muster up for anyone who's been abused by his or her significant other.

I am currently visiting my parents.

Why, hullo thar big fat fluffy white excuse to not visit my parents this morning!
Ok, so I haven't been posting much. I've been playing a lot of Final Fantasy XI which has been taking up a lot of time. Good news is I've got my White Mage up to level 56 and I have all the Artifact Armor I'm currently capable of equipping.

Doug has been really really good about keeping me company with [livejournal.com profile] caorann gone. His birthday is coming up. I'm gonna have to get him something really nice. We went to see Coraline on Tuesday and it was quite enjoyable. The 3D was very impressive, though I'm not entirely sure the story was all there. It wasn't bad and I certainly had a good time, but I don't know. It could've used a bit more meat on its bones.

Sutton Foster's album came out on the 17th and I kinda love it.

I'm thinking of going to NYC tomorrow to see if I can get a ticket to see Heidi Blickenstaff as Ursula in The Little Mermaid. It's kinda spur of the moment. I should probably make a plan and see if [livejournal.com profile] lanchid could come with me.

Also I need to save some money because Escapade is in two weeks and I finally heard back from work about the time off and made all my travel arrangements!! I hope [livejournal.com profile] barbana is going.

I had to take Sid to the vet on Wednesday. He jumped into the empty litter box and pee'd in it while I was changing the litter and I noticed that he had blood in his urine. The vet sent some off to be tested and gave him an anti-inflammatory and told me to get him some wet food so he gets more fluids. She said a lot of times this sort of thing happens when there's a big change. I'm hoping that's all it is. He certainly doesn't seem sick. He's very active and there's nothing wrong with his appetite. I'm sure he's fine.

If you have Sirius or XM radio you really ought to be listening to the Derek and Romaine Show on OutQ. It's awesome.

So, they've cast the companion for the second 2009 Doctor Who Special. I'm wondering if she'll continue on through the rest or if she's a one off.
Why are all my sister's friends friending me on Facebook? Some of them I haven't seen in years and even the ones I still run into, I hardly talk to. I don't get it.

So, I had to work a 12-hour shift today because our 3-11 nurse is in jail. Apparently she led the Pennsylvania State Police on an 18-mile high speed chase that injured two officers.

Crazy.

So, as I was driving home from Syracuse today I saw the awesomest road sign.

Hitting the road to go see Tyler Hanes tonight! Supposedly, the hotel has internet. We shall see.
OutQ’s Derek & Romaine was honored with a special recognition award from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) for The Laramie Project, 10 Years Later — The Lasting Legacy of Matthew Shepard. Conceived and produced by Romaine Patterson, a friend of Matthew Shepard and co-host of the Derek & Romaine show, the documentary examines the impact the award-winning play-turned-film The Laramie Project has had on attitudes towards hate crimes. The special also features an introduction by legendary journalist and SIRIUS XM host Barbara Walters and is narrated by acclaimed actress Stockard Channing.

It will be on tonight from 8-10pm EST on Sirius 109/XM 98. If you're not a sattelite radio subscriber you can get a free trial subscription and listen online at http://www.sirius.com/outq
The Derek and Romaine Show starts at six. I recommend listening to it and not just tuning in for the special. It's hilarious.
