Book case meme

Gakked from [livejournal.com profile] minotaurs

I have to say these are my favorite types of memes. I mean, quizzes can be fun and amusing, but I really like the ones that actually show you a little something about the person participating. I love getting these little glimpses into people's lives.

My actual book case doesn't really have many books on it. It's mostly [livejournal.com profile] caorann's video tapes. I tend to read books and then store them away somewhere.

This is the shelf on my entertainment center with the PS2 and the strategy guides for my various RPGs. Missing from the collection is the guide to Kindom Hearts (which I just recently completed and haven't put the book back yet), Final Fantasy VIII (which I'm playing now, so it's on the coffee table so as to be more readily available), Final Fantasy VII (which I've been leafing through in preparation for playing the game as soon as I'm done with VIII) and X-Men Legends II (still in the bag with the game which I will start playing after I finish FFVII)

The reason the book case picture is crooked is because it's right across the hall from my CD storage area and I couldn't actually stand there to take the picture. As you can see, the CD rack has overflowed onto the buffet. I really should do something about this. I don't listen to many of the CDs anymore. All of the really good songs have been put onto my computer.

Also on the buffet is my pile of books I intend to read some day.

Well, it's really two piles at this point.

Now, onto media storage. This is a cute little rack I got at Sam's Club. It contains most of my box sets and the movies I watch most frequently. There's also some video games I never play anymore and really should get around to taking to Gamestop for store credit. Maybe I'll trade them in towards the purchase of FFXII whenever it finally comes out. It's also got my favorite soundtracks along th top.

More media. The inside of the entertainment center this time. The bottom shelf is two-deep. I have a lot of movies.

This book, I keep on my desk so I always know where to find it. It is, in my opinion the greatest American novel ever written. I read it once a year from the time I was 12 until I graduated college. After that life and work seemed to take up more and more time, and there were a great many things I wanted to read. But when you love something, you make the time for it. I think I need to start doing it again. This particular copy was given to me by my mother as a Christmas gift. The incription she wrote on the inside cover makes me cry every time I read it.
