There are times I wish Howard Shore had passed on scoring Lord of the Rings. Not because I think it's bad, but because Shore, like most film composers has a distinctive style. And Howard Shore composed the score for Dogma. Every so often a passage will remind me of something from the Dogma soundtrack (the first two minutes of 'The White Tree' for example is very reminiscent of the scene in Dogma where they fight Bartleby) and it throws me out of the movie. It's not just him. I've got Harry Potter and Star Wars in the changer on shuffle right now and I honestly couldn't tell the difference for a minute there.
