So, I did a flocked entry last night because there's some things I did yesterday that I just don't want to share with a general audience.

But dude! I saw Sherie Rene Scott last night! She was awesome! She sang 'My Strongest Suit'. She was funny, and touching, and did you know she does magic? I mean literally. Like slight of hand making hankies disappear, nail through the balloon, glasses floating in the air-type magic. How cool is that?

So, I paid extra for a really good seat (which I justified to myself because it was for charity) and what a seat it was! Right in the front row, second from the left (facing the stage) in the center section. And there was this part where she came down off the stage and walked across the front of the house. And when she got to me, she stopped and sat in my lap! Sherie Rene Scott sat in my lap and sang to me!!!!

And since it was Monday and no shows were playing there were lots of broadway people in the audience. I saw Sutton Foster and Norm Lewis, and Ricard Kind. Oh! And Brian Stokes Mitchell almost hit me with a door! Good times.

OMG

( Mar. 15th, 2008 09:01 pm)
I'm going to see Sherie Rene Scott in concert!!!!

I got a mailer from broadway cares and after going back and forth on it for a bit, I decided that I absolutely had to go. I freakin' adore this woman. I'm so excited!
So, I've been obsessively listening to my ill-gotten copy of The Little Mermaid cast recording. And I can't believe I've never noticed before. 'Poor Unfortunate Souls' has the same rhythmic pattern as a Limerick.

Try it. It works:

I admit that in the past I've been a nasty.
They weren't kidding when the called me, well, a witch.
But you'll find that nowadays
I've mended all my ways.
Repented, seen the light, and made a switch.

[livejournal.com profile] lanchid and I spent the day in New York yesterday. We had tickets for the evening show of Legally Blonde. We attempted to get into town in time for the ticket lotto for the matinee of Wicked but unfortunately we just missed it. We did go in and look at the merchandise and [livejournal.com profile] lanchid bought me the Wicked Christmas tree ornament. Then we decided to locate the theater where Legally Blonde would be playing. We found it and started thinking about lunch. We also thought about maybe catching the matinee of The Drowsy Chaperone. I'd already seen it and [livejournal.com profile] lanchid wasn't really excited enough about it to pay full price. The performance was an hour later than Wicked, so they hadn't done their ticket lotto yet. So we crossed the street to where The Little Mermaid was playing and tried to see if we could get tikcets for that.

I may have mentioned before how very much I love Sherie Rene Scott. Well, she's playing Ursula. She's one of those people that I would pay just about anything to see. Factor in that The Little Mermaid is [livejournal.com profile] lanchid's favorite Disney movie and I don't think there was really any way we weren't going to see this. The performance was sold out, but we got ourselves in the cancellation line. And we got tickets! Absolutely awesome tickets! Eighth row, center stage tickets!!

review of The Little Mermaid )

So after The Little Mermaid we were terribly hungry and we went to Planet Hollywood where we had a nice meal. We did a little shopping and went to Rockefeller Center for a quick look at the tree (oh my God was it crowded!) At one point we decided to duck through the NBC store. We went through the revolving door which was moving at a pretty good clip. [livejournal.com profile] lanchid went first, and while I was waiting for the next section, this woman runs in front of me and jumps into the door with [livejournal.com profile] lanchid. This would've been merely rude, but as she was also dragging behind her a four-year old child, it was incredibly dangerous. I could see immediately that the child was not going to get all the way inside before the door shut, and with horrified visions of crushed children (and missing Legally Blonde), I grabbed the handle and applied my not inconsiderable weight to the opposite direction, stopping the door. The woman looked more annoyed than anything else and I don't think she realized that I probably saved her kid from being bisected lengthwise by a revolving door.

After that near-disaster we grabbed a few pictures of the tree and then headed to the theater to see Legally Blonde ) It was amazing.

After the show we headed home, stopping along the way for some food. It was a wonderful day. Usually when I get to the theater, I'm either by myself or going with someone who's not really as into it as I am. It was so nice to spend the day with someone who really loved it as much as I did.
So, I was in the car today listening to Broadway's Best (like you do), and I heard some news about the upcoming broadway production of The Little Mermaid. SHERIE RENE SCOTT IS PLAYING URSULA!!!!11one! When I heard that, I put my hand to my mouth and let out a girly squeal. Seriously. I'd have been very embarrassed if I wasn't in the car by myself.

I gotta see this show now.
