I hate AVI files. I know they're smaller than MPEGs, but I've never had to spend hours searching for a codec for an MPEG so I can play a file I've downloaded. Searching unsuccessfully, I might add. Yes, that's right. I've managed to download almost all 13 episodes of Dr. Who, and a grand total of NONE of them have sound. GSpot says I have the right codec, but Media Player, Quicktime, and Realplayer disagree. Anyone know what I can do about this?
I was just about to head out to the movies with Doug when I got an IM from dad telling me to call right away. So, I called and it turned out the dog had collapsed in the kitchen. She seemed ok, but she couldn't get up again. Her whole back side was paralyzed. Now, she's pretty old (16), so we've kind of been expecting something like this for a while. They called my sister to come home from work and when she got home we decided to call the vet and see if he would come into the office tonight to put her to sleep. He did, which was nice. We didn't want to take her to the emergency vet in Allentown. I'm gonna miss her. She was a good dog.

I came home at 10 to find a letter from my development that says they're paving near the curb tomorrow and anyone with an over-hanging mailbox needs to take it down, so at 10 o'clock at night I'm out there with a screw driver trying to take the mail box down. Except it's a very tiny screw driver and the screws are a bit rusty. So no go, and I wasn't in the mood to drive to my parents' house for the electric screw driver. Instead I kicked the post a few times, so now the mailbox is kind of leaning backwards. Oh well, that's the most I feel like doing tonight.

In slightly better news, [livejournal.com profile] starbuck3614 helped me solve my AVI problem.
