How much did it suck? Like a hoover. Like a quantum singularity. Like Creed. Like Attack of the Clones. Oh yes. Make no mistake work sucked today. Why? Well, there are two reasons. One, is two hours of computer training. That's two hours of me off the floor with no one to fill in for me, so that's an extra two hours of work waiting for me when I get back. Though what really gets me is that they made no attempt to group people together for these classes based on their pre-existing computer knowledge. This is especially baffling since before installing the new computer system then made several attempts to ascertain everyone's computer knowledge. So there I was, stuck in a computer class with people who didn't know what a mouse was and wondered why the vent on the side of the laptop was so hot. Because if they had put me in a class with people who actually knew how to use a computer it would've taken at most, twenty minutes. In fact, if we hadn't had a class at all, and they just told me to figure it out for myself I don't think it would've taken me much more than twenty minutes.
The other reason for the sucking was the QA review we had today. Which means scary corporate lady( No, really... ) going through everything you've done over the last several months and pointing out everything you've done wrong. And see, I know QA is important. I know there's always room for improvement. I know we're caring for human beings and have to hold ourselves to a high standard. I get that. But there are ways of pointing out people's mistakes that are instructive. There are ways you can phrase things so they say 'I know you work hard, but here are some ways you can do better', and not 'here's everything that's been done wrong in the past several months and here's how it's all your fault, now don't you feel deeply ashamed of your incompetence?' Because that's how she makes people feel. And of course the bosses are so far up her ass you'd need to give her a colonoscopy just to find them, which means that they don't back you up at all. It's enough to make me want to quit and get a job at Wal-Mart. But then I remember when I worked at Wal-Mart and it's just the same bullshit for considerably less money. The whole thing is just infuriating.
