Work really sucked today. My unit manager called out and the night nurse didn't call anyone to fill in for her, so it was just the two floor nurses (another nurse and myself). So we had a lot of extra work to do that we didn't really have time for and our director of nursing who is always up our asses bothering us about stupid shit was conveniently nowhere to be found when we actually needed help. They called someone in for a few hours, but mostly we were on our own.
The day actually started out bad even before I got to work. I'm not sure why, but even though the little light was blinking on my alarm clock the way it always does, the alarm itself was not sounding. I do occasionally hit the snooze button, but I would've had to have done it twice by the time I actually woke up and looked at the clock. That seems unlikely. Fortunately, it turns out that since I've begun feeding him every day around 6am, my cat now functions quite well as a back up to my alarm clock.
I'm so glad I don't have to work tomorrow. Though my mother wants to come over tomorrow and help me clean my house. I can't think of many things I want less. Really, only going to work comes immediately to mind.
