WASHINGTON - The first U.S. surgeon general appointed by President Bush accused the administration on Tuesday of political interference and muzzling him on key issues like embryonic stem cell research. Full story.
As an American and a medical professional I am absolutely disgusted that partisanship has infected the office of the Surgeon General.
Though honestly what disgusts me more is that rather than resign and blow the whistle when it would've mattered Dr. Carmona stayed on the job for four years and is just talking about it now. It's the same reason Colin Powell has lost any credibility with me. It doesn't take any bravery to stand up and say something now that the whole country has figured out Bush doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. If these people had stood up when it mattered this country would be in a very different place right now.
