We saw Joey! And he sang! And he was good! And everyone else was good too! That's as coherent a review as you'll get from me right now. We saw Joey!
Ok, so we went to Bayonne and dropped in on my grandparents. After my father's cryptic phone call about the parking situation, I expected something complicated. Grandpa spends five or ten minutes explaining to me the new laws about parking restrictions and why they are in place and how you need a special sticker to park more than three hours in certain parts of town. After all that, he tells me that new rules don't effect his part of town, and I can just park on the street in front of his house. WTF? Why even tell me to begin with? *sigh*
We took the bus in and headed uptown. On the way we saw the Naked Cowboy. He's this really buff guy who stands in the middle of Times Square in cowboy boots, a pair of briefs and a cowboy hat playing the guitar. He also poses for pictures. I hope ours came out. We spent most of our time at the Virgin mega store. It was very cool. I bought gay porn on DVD. Yay me. I also found a really cool book called The Science of X-Men which I now regret not buying. We got in front of the theater a little early and realized a fundamental flaw in this "meet everyone at five" plan. Very few of us had ever met before. There were some fannish looking people there, but I didn't want to frighten anyone by walking up to strangers and saying "Excuse me, are you from LJ?" So Karen and I settled for talking about LJ very loudly and throwing out the occasional username. It worked and we all hooked up and headed to Planet Hollywood.
Planet Hollywood is Boyband Central yo! In the entrance way there is huge poster that is a collage of various boyband related magazine covers. There is a smaller version of it in the elevators. And in one of the dining rooms there are some *NSYNC costumes. I think they were the performance outfits for some awards show. I'm not entirely sure. The only place I've ever seen them is the "It's Raining Men" songvid. I felt like a complete tool when I went to bathroom. I had no idea Planet Hollywood would have a bathroom attendant and I left my wallet at the table.
After dinner, it was back to the theater for the show. Which was great. Joe Sr. and Phyllis were there. Phyllis was right behind me as we entered the theater. The two guys from Driven who went to school with Joey in New York were there too. I bumped into Carmine in the bathroom during intermission. He's really hot in person. I didn't say anything cuz there's no talking in the men's room.
After the show we hung out and we got to see some of the performers. Joey was, of course, mobbed when he came out and had to be rushed into a car and taken away. I felt kind of bad for him remembering when I did theater in school that one of favorite things was meeting the audience after the show.
I met a whole bunch of people. I finally got to meet
theboyy in person. And let me tell you, he is just too cute for words.
Don't ever change, Bryan. *mwah
It's been a long and wonderful day but I'm happy to be back home. I'm so tired and it was very hot. I'm all covered with sweat and I've got that grimy feeling I get whenever I go into a city.
Shower and bed. Yes.
