This is the coolest album EVER! And my heart melted when I read the liner notes.

Some Girls (Dance With Women): Well, I've had this one for a while now. I didn't really like it at first but it has grown on me. It's very easy to dance to. Like most of JC's music, it's not high art, but it's very enjoyable. I really like the vocal rhythm during the verses.

She Got Me: The thing that bothers me most about this song is that I could've totally accepted it as metaphor if JC hadn't flat out said that it's about falling in love with an alien. I think of all the tracks it's the one that's most similar to what's hot right now. It's actually something I wouldn't have been surprised to have heard on Justin's album.

100 Ways: This is one that really gets me moving. I'm bopping about in my chair as I type. It also contains one of my most favorite cheesy JC lyrics ever: "'Cause she's such a sexy dame, I just can't control my thang." That's just gold.

Mercy: This one starts out very of the moment hip-hop sounding and then quickly backtracks right to the 80's where I've been stuck for the last 20 years. But it's not so retro as to sound out of place on an album released in 2004. I also love JC's sexy growly voice.

Build My World: What can I say about a gorgeous love song written by my OTP? Nothing because I'm struck dumb by JC's voice in this one. The longing is just palpable. I really like the syncopation(sp?) during the verses.

Something Special: I don't think there's a person who knows me and my musical taste who wouldn't pick this out as my favorite on the album. They'd be wrong, it's actually my second favorite. But they'd be right that of all the various styles on the album, this is the one that's most consistent with what I generally listen to. I don't tend toward songs with huge back up bands. I prefer a simple background track and this one has it. Just a guitar and some drums and hand claps. This is something he could actually perform live with a band and a few back up singers and no track. Although it's JC, so he'd probably use track anyway because I think he enjoys the hand claps and whistles as much as I do.

If You Were My Girl: And we go right from semi-acoustic pop fluff to early 90's jumping around and yelling into a microphone music. Not generally my "thang" but this one is relatively inoffensive as examples of the genre go. Especially if you don't listen to it too loudly. Anyone notice how a lot of these songs seem to refer to JC's er...stamina?

Shake It: Ah, Basement Jaxx. How I loathe you. Ok, that's really not fair. This song included I've heard a total of three of their songs. But I've hated them all, so I feel safe in my assumption that I won't like any of the others. There's a discord that tends to permeate all the songs I've heard. I know a lot of people like them. And even people who don't like the album that much seem to like this one. I'm just not feeling Basement Jaxx I guess. That said, of the three I've heard this one can at least be classified as music unlike 'Plug it In'. But really the song just makes me feel irritated. It makes me want to turn it off, not dance. The bridge is kind of cool though. I like the drum beat and lack of weird noises.

All Day Long I Dream About Sex: Dude. How much do I love New Wave? I can't even tell you. See the thing is when you're not going for acoustic or semi-acoustic simplicity, this is the way to go. Total synth, beat heavy dance music with verses no one will ever learn and a chorus that will stay in your head for the rest of the week. And the the two minute interlude of music that sounds like it was recorded by putting a microphone to a TV while some kid was playing old school Nintendo games is the coolest thing ever.

One Night Stand: I fully admit that if JC came up to me and asked if I wanted to ff... I would say "Hell yeah!" So really, he's got me right from the beginning. Again, it's got a beat that gets me moving. It's got an awesome, easy to learn chorus. I could do without the synth moans, but whatever. It's got this great light hearted overtone, and I love songs where JC talks. He's got one of those speaking voices I could just listen to forever. And I love it when he sounds uberdorky with the "Yeah. I know." near the beginning.

Come To Me: Makes my 80's loving heart happy. Cory!!! Ok, really JC, THIS is the song about falling in love with an alien. This is the one you should've talked about because there is no way this is metaphor. Unless he actually does have two songs about falling in love with an alien on the album which is entirely possible because...JC. This song also contains the line "When I'm all alone, I lie awake and masturbate." sung in a slow breathy voice that conjures up the most lovely dirty thoughts in my head.

Dear Good-Bye: Ah, another sad love song. I like 'Build My World' better as a song, but I think this one makes better use of his voice. He's got that awesome high range where his voice just fills the room and you wonder how a sound that big can come out of that frame.

Everything You Want: If he wanted to do a Police song he should've done a cover. On it's own, it's not a bad song, but it's just such an obvious imitation both musically and vocally that I can't help but be a little disappointed. I understand being inspired by things. And there are plenty of songs on the album that are 'insert singer/band name here'-esque and that's cool. I think it's great that he allows that influence to shine through. I suppose I can just call it an homage and deal with it, but it'll take a while.

Lose Myself: Eh. I have no strong feeling on this one. It didn't really grab me, but I didn't dislike it either. Out of all the songs on the album this is the only one I'd term "ordinary". But it contains another of my favorite cheesy JC lyrics: "She dreams in color, but does she know that I love her?" Gold.

Right Here(By Your Side): Anyone who didn't pick 'Something Special' as my favorite would've picked this one. And they'd be right. I like the rhythm. I like the opening. I love Love LOVE this line: "We'll stay up sippin' the red red wine. The red stains on your lips, my baby. I'll clean them off with my lips, my baby." I have this thing for songs that conjure up an image of spending a lazy day with someone you love. I just find it so romantic. This is right up there with 'Morning Song' by Jewel and "Just Some Guy" by Anthony Rapp. Songs like this just make my heart melt.
