I really really really want to see Wicked again. Unfortunately it's apparently sold out for the next few months. In theory, I should have next Thursday off. I'm thinking of trying my luck at lotto.
Whilst perusing the press clippings at the website I came across some interesting information. Gregory MacGuire who wrote the book Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West upon which the musical is based, is gay. I had one of those 'oh, well that makes a whole lot more sense now' moments.
Speaking of the book, I can't reccomend it enough. It really is good. There are actual gay people in Oz. Who knew? But yeah, very good, and even more timely these days, I think than when it was written back in '95. Plus if you're going to see the musical there's this whole clock motif to the stage design, the significance of which just flies right over your head if you didn't read the book.
