I haven't been posting or reading LJ much because I've been way too busy playing RPGs. It was one of the goals of my vacation to finally finish Xenosaga Episode II (which I did). So with some time to spare before going back to work, I started playing Kingdom Hearts. I finished that last week. I was intrigued by some of the Final Fantasy characters that were in it (I only started playing FF when FFX came out for PS2) so I went out and bought VII and VIII. I'm playing VIII right now and it's awesome. I hear IX is good too, but it's been harder to find than VII and VIII.
Also while on vacation, I got a call from work asking if I would like to work 3-11 as supervisor instead of 11-7 with the same raise and the same stipulation that it will only be for a month. I said yes. And let me tell you, that for all the inconvenience 3-11 causes, it's the perfect shift for people who want to spend all day playing RPGs on their playstations. I get up in the morning, I make coffee, I play Final Fantasy for five hours, then I go to work and usually play for another three when I get home. Though I may have to call a moratorium on Sunday so I can catch up with my TV shows.
For those of you who play video game RPGS, especially Final Fantasy, I have a question. What's your focus when you play? By which I mean, do you enjoy all the puzzle solving, and hidden item finding, and side quests and mini-games that are really badly disguised attempts to teach kids how to do math? Or are you in it for the story?
Me, I'm in it for the story. I buy the strategy guide, and follow the walk through. I look up each mini-game and side quest I'm presented with, and base my decision on whether or not I will participate in it by what the effect on the progress of the story will be. I mean, the Onion Knight is cool, but I don't need it to beat Sin and save Spira and I'm certainly not dodging 200 lightning bolts just to get it, you know?
Oh, BTW
elrond50, I was wrong about X-Men Legends II coming out in December. It's actually coming out in September. The 21st to be exact.

Mandy plays an NPC who provides some exposition about your quest, and yes, you can definitely tell it's her. There's a rumor she's going to reprise the role in the English dub of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (CGI movie sequel to FFVII) but it's just a rumor for now.
