So, I went to Regal Cinemas in Phillipsburg, NJ to see the Powerpuff Girls movie. And when I tried to get in, I was told I wasn't allowed to take my back pack into the theater for "safety reasons". So I asked to talk to the manager because my bag has all my stuff in it, and I don't want to leave it in the car and have it stolen AGAIN. But he says it's corporate policy that all bags with the exception of diaper bags and a purses are forbidden. So I asked him flat out if a woman bearing a purse of comparable size to my back pack would be allowed in the theater. And he said yes. I guess he could read the question "You realize how stuipid that is?" in my eyes because he started blaming "corporate policy". So I asked him if he could guarantee the safety of my belongings while they sat in the parking lot, which he couldn't. So, I asked if the theater had set up some sort of bag check system, which they hadn't. So I volunteered to let him search the bag. He said they're not allowed. I said "But I'm offering" he said they're not allowed. So I said, then I can't see movies here and left. Somewhere in the discussion he said the new policy was in response to the attack on the World Trade Center (well, he just said September 11, but hate referring to it that way as if nothing else ever happened on that date in the history of the world) and I swear to God if that tragedy is invoked one more time in actions that strip me of my rights, I'm going to commit a terrorist act just to spite people. And as we all know, only men commit terrorist acts.

On the way home I thought to myself that I should have loudly accused him of discrimination (just for fun), so I went to the Regal Cinema in Easton, PA and apparently they didn't get the memo about the new "corporate policy" because they didn't even look at me funny. So I saw the Powerpuff Girls movie, and it was pretty cool.

I want to go back to P'burg and explain that though it may look like a suede back pack, it is, in fact, my purse and therefore, I should be allowed to take it into the theater with me. But that'll be an argument for another time.
