Ok, I have one little quibble with Heroes. Yes, I know deer don't talk, but when Nathan took off he was moving at tremendous speed. And when you're talking about flying, Humans are not the most aerodynamic creatures in the world. What I'm getting at is that moving at those speeds would cause a tremendous amount of friction. Enough to burn his skin (and don't even get me started about how he managed to keep his pants on let alone intact). So his skin has got to be more resistant to heat and friction than the average Human. So why then, did he burn his feet on the sand when he landed?

I overthink these things.

Well, I think it is safe to say that the amount of friction encountered over the whole of his body while flying through the air (which is a much more dispersed medium) is much less, relatively speaking, to the amount of localized friction caused by stopping himself barefoot on gravel.

And obviously his pants were manufactured by the same outfit that manufactured Wolverine's Phoenix-proof pants ;-)
