sorka42 about how Rose left at exactly the right moment for me. Martha is such a breath of fresh air for me.
Ok, first of all, how cute was David Tennant with those kittens? I don't usually download the confidentials, but I hear there's more of David with the kittens, so I might have to.
And speaking of the kittens can I get a "woop woop" for interspecies romance?
Also, elderly married lesbians FTW!
As I said above, I love Martha. She's so smart. She thought about the submarine thing. And she's smart enough to realize how crazy it was to just go off with the Doctor. But she also has faith in him. She's seen what he can do and believes in him already. I love that. Also her objection to being taken to the same planets as Rose and her finally putting her foot down with the Doctor and forcing him to talk.
And speaking of faith, I loved the use of hymns and Martha comparing the New Earthers' faith to her own belief in the Doctor. And interesting choice for the hymns too. The Old Rugged Cross and Abide With Me are both common hymns for funerals. Of course, the reason they're so popular at funerals is because they're about how faith and hope sustain us through difficult times. I kind of like that idea. You've got all these people united by their hope for something better and expressing that hope by singing together. It was beautiful.
In a lot of ways all those people in the motorway reminded me of the sort of romaticized stories we hear about people leaving Europe for the new world. People crammed together on ships with nothing but their families and what little they were able to take with them all united by a dream of a better life.
I know it's only episode three but I'll definitely say this is the best of the season so far.
