I'm sick. There's a stomach bug going around at work and I got it. So far, I'm just having nausea and abdominal pain without any of the more unpleasant symptoms that usually attend such things. Here's hoping for a mild case. I left work early. They were probably going to send me home early anyway, but this way I get sick time. Funny thing about sick time, they can't split it up. So I'm getting paid 8 hours of sick time plus the 4 hours I worked. Works out well for me. Even with my recent time in the hospital, I've got over 200 hours of sick time and we're not allowed to buy back.


In other news, I've been having these wild dreams. Vivid dreams is a side-effect of my blood pressure medicine, and one I usually don't mind having. They come and go. I've been having them a lot lately. Recently, they've all had something to do with the last thing I did or saw before I went to bed. Which can be good when I watch porn right before I go to bed, or not so good when I'm playing Final Fantasy or Bejewelled. The Legally Blonde dream was pretty cool. Last night was Star Trek: Hidden Frontier. I don't remember it clearly but it was actually somewhat unnerving. I just got Dante's Cove season 2 from Netflix. I shall have to remember not to watch it right before I got to bed.

If you all want to skip all that and just read this I'm ok with that.

A question for anyone who might know anything about kinship terms: Is the child of my first cousin, my second cousin, or my first cousin-once removed? Or doesn't it actually make a difference? No particular reason. Just curious.

Your first cousin's kid is your first cousin once removed (and vice versa); if you have a kid, it will be your cousin's kid's 2nd cousin.

(It gets more fun: If your cousin has a grandkid, it will be your first cousin *twice* removed, your kid's second cousin once removed, and your grandkid's third cousin.)

I don't know how I know this; I blame it on my crazy southern family.
