So, on the way home from work today they played 'A Little Priest' from the soundtrack to Sweeney Todd. I tried to be fair. I even listened to the whole thing. And my original opinion stands. Banal and average. That song is supposed to be funny. I didn't crack a smile once. Also, they cut out my favorite part of the song.

I really need to never see this movie.

I saw the sneak preview, and yes, they did cut the best part, but they also do a bit better visual humor in the movie that you couldn't pull off on stage. I had a number of trepidations going into the film as well, but I'm not disappointed I saw it. Is it the show? No. Is it a decent adaptation? I think so, though obviously YMMV. And if anything, I feel the second act is much better in the film (I've never been a fan of the whole By the Sea, Not While I'm Around, Parlor Songs interlude feeling that it drags down the second act, but the movie actually makes it quite enjoyable.)

I'm sure it's slightly easier to take when you see it onscreen, but I really just can't get over the fact that the singing is banal and average.

*weeps*

I really need to never see this movie.

Such a fucking tragedy, because it *could* have been spectacular. Instead it just looks beautifully realized.

FUCK.

I just can't deal with this movie. I think I'm just going to deny its existence. Sort of like I do with Star Trek:Nemesis.
