I'm trying to work out some sort of timeline for the new series and how event in Torchwood and SJA fit into it.
Shall we begin at the beginning?
Rose-According to the 'Missing' poster in 'Aliens of London', Rose leaves with the Doctor in March of 2005.
'Aliens of London'/'WWIII' takes place one year later in March of 2006.
'The Christmas Invasion' would then take place in December of 2006 with all of the series 2 stories set on contemporary Earth taking place in 2007.
I'm thinking 'School Reunion' takes place sometime during the Spring of 2007 and 'Doomsday' in the late Fall
During this time Torchwood 3 existed in some form (likely with Jack as leader), but lacking Ianto and Gwen. Ianto joined at some point after 'Doomsday' I'm thinking late Fall/early Winter
'The Runaway Bride' takes place over Christmas of 2007
Gwen joins Torchwood in early 2008 and I think season 1 of Torchwood takes place in a time period covering January/February through October of 2008.
I think Sarah Jane was operating on her own from the end of 'School Reunion' (Spring '07) until meeting Maria and Luke in the Summer of 2008. Now, I know 'Invasion of the Bane' was a New Year's special, but I think it's actually set in the Summer as 'Revenge of the Slitheen' has Maria, Luke, and Clyde starting school for the new term.
I think SJA takes place in the Fall of 2008. And we know from 'Turn Left' that the SJA team in its present form was in operation during the events of 'Smith & Jones'
This is where the time travel makes it tricky because even though I think Martha traveled with the Doctor for at least a year from her perspective, the time elapsed in her native time period from when she left with the Doctor to when she elected to stay was no more than 6 weeks.
This places all of Martha and the Doctor's adventures in contemporary Earth sometime around the last month of Torchwood season 1 and somewhere in the middle of SJA.
'Utopia', of course, takes place immediately after the Torchwood finale (End of Days). And I think a month passes on contemporary Earth between the end of 'Utopia' and 'The Sound of Drums'.
'Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang' picks up from the end of 'The Last of the Time Lords' with Jack returning to Torchwood after 3-4 weeks, which I think places the beginning of series 2 of Torchwood in late November, or early December 2008.
'Voyage of the Damned' takes place during Christmas of 2008.
It's hard to put a finger on when exactly 'Partners in Crime' takes place, but I'm thinking toward the end of Winter 2009.
It's also implied in 'Turn Left' that series 2 of Torchwood ended sometime prior to 'The Sontaaran Strategem'/'Poison Sky' I'm thinking Spring '09.
I can't really place 'Stolen Earth'/'Journey's End' either, but I'm thinking possibly Fall '09.
Thoughts, comments, suggestions for revisions? This is mostly off the top of my head, so any characters or signage referenced a specific date anywhere I'd like to know.
