I took my cousin to see Spring Awakening today. It was a wonderful show. I'm so glad I got to see it before it closes. That Hunter Parrish sure is a cutie, but I would've appreciated it if his range was a bit higher. My cousin enjoyed it too, and I'm sure it was nice for her to get out of the house for a while. Things are a bit difficult for her at home right now.

I braved a nasty snow storm so as not to have to spend the night at my grandparents' house. That would've been dreadful.

I've heard so many good things about Spring Awakening but for some reason it didn't appeal to me so I didn't see it even though I was in the city twice this year. Maybe I would have enjoyed it. I saw a video with Hunter talking about his role, trying to get people to come see the show, and he was like, "You get to see my butt" LOL. What other musical(s) would you compare it to, in terms of the play itself and/or the music?

I, unfortunately was on the side of the theater that did not get to see Hunter's butt. Oh, well. I don't know that there's much I can compare it to. Maybe RENT, but not really. It seems to resonate with young people the way RENT did when it first came out, and the music has definitely got the same modern sensibility. But in terms of content the shows are very different. Have you heard any of the music? It's very good.

See, that's the thing. I saw one of the numbers performed on a talk show (maybe The View when Rosie was there -- she liked to have Broadway acts on) and it didn't appeal to me. It seemed... sophomoric, for lack of a better word. But I watched some stuff on the website and I really liked it. Maybe there will be a touring production and I might get to see it here eventually.

Very few of the good songs from the show can be performed on network TV. There is a tour. I hope you get to see it someday.
